By order of the Military Department No. 106 of March 16, 1913, a uniform marching uniform for officers and lower ranks of the Russian Imperial Army was established. As a field headdress for gentlemen officers, a khaki-colored cap, the existing model, but with three edgings of instrument cloth, was adopted.

According to the list of colors of lapels, collars, piping and shoulder straps, the piping on the marching caps of officers of artillery units (except for cavalry, cavalry-mountain and Cossack units) was supposed to be scarlet.
